Slovakia has signed a five-year agreement with VFS Global to manage its visa application services worldwide starting in 2026. Under this new arrangement, VFS Global will handle visa submissions from 83 countries, expanding Slovakia’s global access and making the application process more streamlined for travellers.
What Will Change in 2026?
-
VFS Global will operate 159 visa application centres worldwide dedicated to Slovak visa processing.
-
The rollout will come in phases, with the first major launch scheduled for January 2026, followed by additional centres opening later in the year.
-
Both Schengen short-stay visas and Slovakia’s long-term national visas (for work, study, and long-term stays) will fall under this new arrangement.
-
Applicants will submit documents, provide biometrics, and complete administrative steps through VFS Global, while Slovakia’s government will continue making all final visa decisions.
Extra Services for Applicants
Travellers will also have access to optional premium services such as:
-
Assisted document review
-
Translation services
-
Premium lounges
-
Courier passport return
These services are designed to offer more convenience and reduce stress during the visa process.
Why This Matters
With travel demand to Slovakia increasing, the global expansion will make it easier for applicants in more countries to access visa services without long travel distances or limited appointment slots. The improved infrastructure is expected to enhance efficiency and offer a more comfortable, modern application experience.
