United Nigeria Airlines to launch regional, international flights August 25

In a bold move to expand its global footprint, United Nigeria Airlines has signed a global distribution agreement with Sabre Central and West Africa, a joint venture of global travel technology giant, Sabre Corporation. The airline announced the milestone on Friday, confirming that its fares and inventory will now be available on the Sabre travel marketplace, opening the door to international travel agencies and booking platforms.

A Big Step for Visibility and Growth

According to Osita Okonkwo, Chief Operating Officer of United Nigeria Airlines, the partnership marks a pivotal moment in the airline’s expansion efforts:

“For the first time, we are making our product available through a global travel marketplace, giving us the opportunity to broaden our reach and connect with travellers around the world.”

Okonkwo noted that the deal will significantly boost the airline’s global visibility, enhance sales efficiency, and provide seamless access to booking options for travel agents worldwide.

Global Support from Sabre

Sabre executives echoed this optimism. Alessandro Ciancimino, Vice President of Airline Distribution for Europe, Middle East, and Africa at Sabre, praised the partnership:

“We’re proud to support United Nigeria Airlines as they take this important step to expand their reach. By joining the Sabre travel marketplace, the airline is increasing access to content for travel agents worldwide and unlocking new opportunities for revenue and growth.”

Sabre, a leader in travel technology, is known for supporting carriers of all sizes in scaling operations efficiently and responding to the evolving needs of today’s travellers.

A Boost for Nigerian Aviation

Joshua Olowo, President of Sabre Central and West Africa, emphasized that this move aligns with Sabre’s long-standing mission to support local African airlines.

“This partnership aligns with our goal to help local carriers reach broader markets, increase revenue opportunities, and serve travellers better through Sabre’s world-class technology.”

What It Means for United Nigeria Airlines

Founded in 2021 and granted an air operator’s certificate by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), United Nigeria Airlines has rapidly emerged as a promising player in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The agreement with Sabre not only enhances its commercial capacity but also sets the stage for growth across Nigeria, West Africa, and international markets. With access to Sabre’s marketplace, the airline can now tap into millions of global travellers, thereby diversifying revenue streams and boosting operational competitiveness.

This partnership is more than just a technology upgrade — it’s a sign that Nigeria’s aviation industry is evolving, becoming more integrated with the global air travel ecosystem.
