Czech Republic offers fully funded university scholarships to Nigerians with monthly stipend

The Government of the Czech Republic is inviting applications for its fully funded scholarship programme for the 2026/2027 academic year. The opportunity is open to Nigerians and nationals from 11 other developing countries to study at public universities in the Czech Republic.

This long-running scheme is part of the Czech Republic’s foreign development cooperation strategy. Since the late 1950s, over 20,000 foreign students have graduated from Czech universities under this initiative.

Eligible Countries

  • Africa: Nigeria, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zambia

  • Europe: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus (democratic forces)

  • Asia: Cambodia, Sri Lanka

  • Middle East & Latin America: Jordan, Guatemala

What the Scholarship Covers

  • Full tuition for selected programmes

  • Monthly stipend: CZK 16,000 for Bachelor’s & Master’s, CZK 17,000 for Doctoral students

  • Programmes taught in Czech or English, depending on applicant’s eligibility and choice

  • A one-year Czech language preparatory course for some applicants

Available Programmes

  • In Czech:

    • Bachelor’s (Georgia only)

    • Follow-up Master’s (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus)

    • One-year language prep course

  • In English:

    • Two-year Follow-up Master’s

    • Three- to four-year Doctoral

  • Completed secondary education (Bachelor’s)

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s)

  • Master’s degree (Doctoral)

  • Online English test for programmes taught in English

  • Successful entrance exams

Important Dates

  • Application deadline: 30 September 2025

  • Applications are submitted online only

Additional Notes

  • Travel costs to and from the Czech Republic are not covered

  • Extra health services beyond standard care must be paid for by the student

  • Scholarship may be terminated if studies are interrupted, academic obligations are not met, or false information is provided
