Nigeria Immigration Service Extends UK Passport Intervention Exercise to October 30

Nigerians living in the United Kingdom who need to apply for, renew or resolve pending Nigerian passport applications now have more time to access the special passport intervention exercise being conducted by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

The NIS has further extended its Special Passport Intervention Exercise in the UK until October 30, 2026, following sustained demand and a strong turnout from Nigerians seeking passport services.

The latest extension follows an earlier deadline of October 3, giving more applicants an opportunity to complete their passport enrolment and renewal processes.

Why Was the Exercise Extended?

The intervention exercise was introduced to help address passport-related demand among Nigerians in the UK, including pending applications, new passport applications and renewals.

The high turnout during the exercise prompted the NIS to extend the programme so that more eligible Nigerians could be attended to.

The exercise has involved intervention centres in London and Manchester, with the NIS deploying a dedicated team to support passport processing.

More Nigerians Can Now Access the Service

The extension provides additional time for eligible Nigerians who may have missed earlier appointment windows or are still waiting to complete their passport process.

The intervention exercise has already processed thousands of applicants since it began in September. During the first six operational days alone, the NIS reported that 2,296 applicants were successfully enrolled across the London and Manchester centres.

Passport production and dispatch for enrolled applicants have also been progressing alongside the enrolment exercise.

What Should Applicants Do?

Eligible applicants should ensure they have the required documents and follow the official appointment process before attending an intervention centre.

Applicants are advised to secure a confirmed appointment and monitor official announcements for the latest information about locations, dates and enrolment arrangements.

The extension is particularly useful for Nigerians whose passports are expiring or who have outstanding passport applications that need to be completed.

A Useful Opportunity for Nigerians in the UK

For Nigerians living abroad, having a valid Nigerian passport is important for identification, international travel and accessing various consular and immigration services.

The extended intervention exercise provides another opportunity to get passport matters sorted without waiting for a future intervention programme.
